Skoda is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated second-generation Skoda Kodiaq SUV in India, and the specifications for the 2024 model have been officially revealed. The Czech automaker has pulled back the curtain on what we can expect from the upcoming Kodiaq, and it’s shaping up to be an impressive offering.
The exterior design of the new-gen Kodiaq retains some familiar elements that fans of the brand will recognize. The characteristic moustache grille, split headlamps, and crab-pincer design for the taillamps are all present, giving the SUV a distinct and stylish look. The overall silhouette remains largely unchanged, but with a length of 4,758mm, the next-gen Kodiaq is 61mm longer than its predecessor. This increase in length provides a more commanding road presence and may also translate to enhanced interior space.

Speaking of the interior, while actual images haven’t been released yet, Skoda promises a completely redesigned cabin that will surely impress. The center console will be uncluttered, dominated by a spacious 12.9-inch touchscreen that will showcase a newer interface. Complementing this will be the “virtual cockpit” featuring a large 10.25-inch all-digital MID (Multi-Information Display) along with a heads-up display, providing drivers with crucial information at a glance. Skoda’s renowned “simply clever” elements will also be present, including door edge protectors and an umbrella holder in the driver’s door.
Under the hood, the 2024 Kodiaq will offer an array of powertrain options to suit different preferences. The lineup will include a standard mild-hybrid 1.5 TSI engine paired with a seven-speed DCT transmission, delivering 150bhp of power. For those seeking more performance, a larger 2.0-liter TSI engine with AWD (all-wheel drive) and DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox) will be available, generating a robust 200bhp. Additionally, Skoda will continue to offer the 2.0-liter TDI engine, which will come in two variants: 150bhp in the FWD (front-wheel drive) version and 190bhp in the AWD version.
What sets the 2024 Kodiaq apart from its predecessors is the introduction of a plug-in hybrid option, marking the brand’s foray into the realm of electrification. This variant will feature the 1.5 TSI engine paired with a 25.7kWh battery pack. The combined output will be an impressive 200bhp, and the SUV will offer a pure electric range of approximately 100km. When it comes to charging, the battery can handle up to 50kW in DC (direct current) or 11kW in AC (alternating current), providing flexibility for different charging infrastructure.
Enthusiasts and potential buyers can expect a global reveal of the 2024 Kodiaq in September, with sales expected to commence either towards the end of 2023 or in early 2024. Following its international debut, the India-specific version is anticipated to make its way to the Indian market, allowing Indian customers to experience the next generation of Skoda’s popular SUV firsthand. With its enhanced design, spacious interior, versatile powertrain options, and the addition of a plug-in hybrid variant, the 2024 Kodiaq aims to raise the bar and deliver a compelling package for SUV enthusiasts and eco-conscious drivers alike.
